The association CAPJPO EuroPalestine is suing the beauty chain retailer because of its business relationship with Ahava products. According to the association, Ahava products, which are manufactured in the kibbutz Mitzpe Shalem, located in the Palestinian West Bank, on the shore of the Dead Sea, would derived from an “illegal settlement” in the territories occupied by Israel.
Considering the Israeli colonization is a “war crime” under the international law, the association argues that “the distribution and sale of these products in stores in France appears as having an unlawful origin.” As a consequence, the public action group requests that the distribution agreement binding Sephora and Ahava be cancelled, as well as several thousand euros for damages.
In parallel to the lawsuit, the association also organized a demonstration at the Sephora outlet in the mall of the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
