In the few years since Palestinian civil society issued a call for an international BDS campaign, the movement has grown by leaps and bounds – even here in the US. Today we will be focusing especially on the economic and cultural boycott campaigns and divestment campaigns on college campuses with our two guests:
Nada Elia, a 3rd generation Palestinian refugee from Jerusalem, teaches Global Studies at Antioch University in Seattle. She chairs the anti-militarism/anti-occupation taskforce of INCITE: Women of Color Against Violence and serves on the Organizing Committee of US Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel
Fayyad Sbaihat is a writer, blogger, and activist. He is the former spokesperson for the Palestine Solidarity Movement and a national coordinator with the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel movement and the author of “Fighting the New Apartheid.” a handbook based on his experience leading the University of Wisconsin Divestment from Israel Campaign.
