Dear Moby,
I recently learned of your concert in Israel on July 12. I am writing to ask you to cancel.
Since 2005 Palestinian civil society has been calling on international artists to refuse to play in Israel as part of a campaign for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel until it complies with international law. In support, many artists have canceled their concerts in Israel, including Elvis Costello, Roger Waters, Carlos Santana, August Burns Red and the late Gil Scott Heron.
You say you want to see things with your own eyes before passing judgment. Fantastic. But do it without performing just a few miles away from those suffering under occupation. Do it without allowing your concert to be used to legitimize a system of apartheid and the systematic violation of human rights.
Sincerely,
