Legendary dancer and choreographer Mikhail Baryshnikov will perform in Israel in late June, in a joint performance with Ana Laguna. The performance, titled “Three solos and a duet,” will include choreography by Mats Ek (Laguna’s husband), Benjamin Millepied and Alexei Ratmansky. Baryshnikov, 62, will dance throughout.

The dancer instructed promoters to give away 50 free tickets to each of his three shows to ballet students, according to their teacher’s recommendations. All other tickets are expected to be priced at NIS 280 to NIS 375.

“Three solos and a duet” premiered in Riga, Latvia, the city of Baryshnikov’s birth, last year and has been staged in Europe and the United States.

Claudia La Rocco, dance critic for the New York Times, wrote of Baryshnikov last year: “He has a pass to dance as long as he wants.”

Baryshnikov is often named as one of the three greatest dancers of the 20th century, alongside Rudolf Nureyev and Vaslav Nijinsky. Laguna, 55, is considered the muse of her husband, and was a star dancer of the Kolberg Ballet in Sweden.

The concerts in Israel will take place at the Suzanne Dellal Center in Tel Aviv on June 26 and at the Herzliya Center for the Performing Arts on June 28 and 29.
