Settlement products destroyed in Salfit

Salfit – Ma’an – Crews from the caretaker Ministry of the Economy, customs officers and the Palestinian Authority preventive security department seized and destroyed 20,000 shekels (5,355 US dollars) of settlement goods on Wednesday, officials said.

The economy ministry said the goods included detergents and plastic containers produced in the illegal settlement of Qarne Shomron, in the northern Salfit district.

The seizure and destruction come in like with a new government policy in the West Bank prohibiting the sale of goods produced in the settlements.

The statement said the implementation of the ban would be strict, that it is in the interests of the Palestinian National Project and that “anyone violating the law will be brought into account.”
