Scottish PSC Press Release – Support the Right to Boycott Israel

Support the right to Boycott Apartheid Israel!

Please meet outside the Sheriff Court at 9.30am on Friday 17th April.

The five Scottish PSC members who were arrested when they disrupted the performance of the Israeli-state-sponsored Jerusalem Quartet at last August”s Edinburgh Festival will be at Edinburgh Sheriff Court (Chambers St) on Friday from 9.30am.

In the aftermath of the Gaza massacres, in what appears to have been a demonstration of solidarity with Israel, the original charge of Breach of the Peace was swapped for one of “racially aggravated conduct”.

This is a clear push to quash the increasing international campaign to Boycott Apartheid Israel by attempting to criminalise it.

If the same means had been used to stifle the boycott of Apartheid South Africa, the racist regime would likely still be in office there.

Boycott is a powerful non-violent weapon in the fight for justice in Palestine; it is important that we face up to this challenge.

Please demonstrate support for the right to Boycott Israel, and show solidarity with those on trial by attending outside the court (placards welcome) between 9.30 and 10am, and inside from 10am (no placards!; they can be left with security).
